SATURDAY MARCH 22 is Earth Hour! In 2025, water takes center stage in our Earth Hour celebrations across Suriname and Guyana. Follow water’s incredible journey from source to tap and uncover the challenges it faces along the way. See how these disruptions ripple through our daily lives and impact every species on Earth. Join us for this unique moment to reflect on the power of water—and our role in securing a healthy future for all.
Water is essential to life, but it also brings challenges—think of extreme droughts or floods. And the Guianas are no exception. When water flow is disrupted, the effects are felt everywhere: schools close because river levels drop too low, homes flood as shorelines erode, and falling hydro lake levels threaten energy supplies. Even access to clean drinking water is at risk, as rivers become polluted by gold mining. The thing is, many of these disruptions are caused by human actions—and the solutions start with us. It's time to #WatchOverWater.

EARTH HOUR 2025LEARN, INSPIRE, RECONNECT, RESTOREEarth Hour believes that each one of us has the power to make a positive impact on our planet, but it’s up to us as individuals to decide how we do so. As a global movement, we acknowledge that the impact individuals can make is bounded by their own abilities, privilege, and environment. Earth Hour strives to inspire and support people to decide what they can do and want to do for Earth – our planet, our home. How will you give 60 minutes of your time to Earth, this Earth Hour? |
