This year Suriname is celebrating Earth Hour, under the national theme, “USE YOUR ENERGY TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE ENVIRONMENT. I WILL IF YOU WILL!” Earth Hour 2015 is in cooperation with the Water Commission of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the local energy supplier, EBS. The Water Commission is organizing a whole week of activities, starting on World Water Day, March 22 and ending on March 28, Earth Hour.

March 23-28: Intense MEDIA EXPOSURE – look out for TV and radio commercials to inform all Surinamese people about Earth Hour and our activities.
March 24 WATER WORKSHOP – In collaboration with the Water Commission of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Suriname Brewery to discuss the topic of water resource management in Suriname. A morning session with local government staff and an afternoon session with NGOs & entrepreneurs.
March 28: LIGHTS-OUT EARTH HOUR MARCH - WWF and its Earth Hour Partners would be delighted to have you join us at National Independence square from 6:00 PM, to participate with our program until 10.00 PM to show Suriname’s continued commitment to halting climate change and promoting sustainable development of water. The evening will feature songs, a quiz, dance and the symbolic LIGHTS-OFF event from 8:30 to 9:30 PM.
