This year Guyana’s is celebrating Earth Hour, under the national theme, “Put Your Best Carbon Footprint Forward”. We are encouraging practical measures to reduce our carbon footprint, focusing on energy and water usage and improved management of solid wastes in our urban and rural spaces.

March 23-28: POSTER EXHIBITION at the Guyana National Museum - The exhibition will begin at 9:30 am each day. Students of the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of Guyana and members of the Caribbean Youth Environment Network–Guyana will be there answering your questions and informing you how you can make small changes in your activities which can make have a big impact for reducing climate change and also how much you take out of your wallets.
March 24-25: PANEL DISCUSSION - During the week there will be a rich discussion on climate change and practical actions that we can take to reduce our carbon footprint. The discussion will be aired on the National Communications Network (NCN) at various times throughout the week. The panel will comprise representatives from WWF; School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, University of Guyana; Environmental Protection Agency; and, the Caribbean Youth Environment Network-Guyana.
March 28: LIGHTS-OUT Concert at the National Park - WWF and its Earth Hour Partners would also be happy to have you join us in the National Park from 7:00 PM, to symbolize Guyana’s continued commitment to halting climate change and your dedication to reducing your own carbon footprint. The evening will feature song, poetry, dance and the symbolic LIGHTS-OFF event from 8:30 to 9:30 PM.
